Grow Report: Gold Bar Kush Indoor (Spliff Seeds)

I grew one Gold Bar Kush in deep water culture (DWC) in a small closet using LED lights with a total draw of 94 watts. Gold Bar Kush takes a while to germinate, it took 9 days but grew quickly once it popped up. It looks like a typical Kush strain, indica style leaves, short internodes and a generally short, bushy plant. She handled 1250 ppm worth of nutrients perfectly fine, I only used the Canna hydro line but will add in some boosters next time.

The plant handled stress well, I topped it once after the third set of leaves and it fully recovered after about two days. I like to defoliate heavily in DWC and Gold Bar Kush doesn’t seem to mind at all. After about two weeks of veg, the plant was only 30–40 cm tall with a few big, dark green, indica style leaves. Stretching stopped around the end of week 3 of flowering at a height of about 80 cm. Somehow it managed to grow in a way that makes it look like it was grown in a scrog.

At 9 weeks of flower, the buds look great and have mostly milky trichomes, but I let it go a little longer for maximum potency. I harvested the plant after 10 weeks of flower with about 20% of the trichomes turning amber. I didn’t get any giant buds, but instead had many small, dense and heavy ones. She was super frosty, easy to trim, very sticky and had a strong citrus smell. I’m a big fan of O.G. Kush and Orange Bud and this strain really seems to be a good combination between the two.

After a few days of flush the plant got a bit lighter but didn’t really yellow out much. The total yield was 80 grams of dry bud, which I’m quite happy with considering the budget and size of the grow room.
