Cannapedia Encyclopedia of cannabis strains

A polyhybrid is a crossbreed of two different unstabilized hybrids. Most commercial cannabis strains offered by seedbanks are polyhybrids. Seeds of such crossbreeds are relatively unequal in many cases and they produce plants with different properties. Bear in mind that in these cases, the genetic mix is highly varied. One therefore cannot expect polyhybrid seeds to be as homogenous as F1 hybrids.

Stabilizing crossbreeds of course tends to be complicated, as different genes from different varieties are mixed. This makes the selection and the stabilization process of their different signs very difficult. A vast majority of hybrids on the market are in fact polyhybrids.
