An approach to international business and working with US companies

The goal of my presentation is to demonstrate the current landscape of the recreational and medical markets in the US, current struggles and obstacles in the industry that canna-businesses encounter, barriers to entry (domestic and international), and how canna-businesses contribute to the US and international economy growth.
I currently help cannabis businesses in all sectors (growers, cannabis processors, manufacturers of infused products, retailers, and ancillary companies) with their canna-business strategy, compliance, and accounting. I serve clients in California, Washington, and Oregon. Through this position, I’ve been given insight on different aspects of state and federal compliance, the pricing of cannabis throughout the aforementioned supply chain, as well as trends identified in intellectual property and business strategy. My presentation will contribute in many factors to the overall environment at Cannafest 2015.
It will provide an understanding to international cannabis professionals on the barriers to entry in the US market, the current legislation and obstacles of doing business in legal states, and the ways international businesses can get involved. My expertise is in business strategy, finance, financial reporting, canna-accounting, 280E tax strategy, and risk management. I’ve worked with business owners and CEOs to improve internal processes, increase sales, reduce costs, and grow. I've helped take companies public, performed due-diligences, and have helped companies improve their business operations across the globe. My background is in Big 4 accounting and international consulting for Fortune 500 companies, I've lived in Madrid, Los Angeles, and Paris, and have experience working in Latin America, Western and Northern Europe, and the Asia Pacific region. I've written a book on Operating a Compliant and Successful Canna-business, I am the founder of the Cannabis Finance Bootcamp, a business Partner with New Era CPAs, I've spoken at Women and Grow, appeared on NPR, 420 Radio, and have given talks at universities in the UA.
